Breakthrough in AKA Murder Case: Three Suspects Arrested in Cape Town and Set to Face Murder Charges in Durban

South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, known as AKA, was murdered in February 2021 in Durban. According to a report by Sunday Tribune, three men have been arrested in connection with his murder. The suspects were apprehended in Cape Town and are in police custody. The suspects will be taken to Durban to face charges. The Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel André Traut, referred all questions to the KwaZulu-Natal police, stating that “it is a KZN case.” KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda declined to comment on the arrests, stating that “we have not received any update on the AKA case.” AKA and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, were shot in Durban, with AKA dying instantly. The incident was recorded on video and widely shared. The investigation into the killing is ongoing.

The prosecution alleges that the suspects were hired hitmen who carried out the killing, although the motive behind the murder is still under investigation.
