Gqeberha, South Africa – Riana Pretorius, a 26-year-old biokineticist who was kidnapped outside her medical practice in Newton Park, Gqeberha, has been found unharmed and has taken to social media to thank everyone for their support. Pretorius was allegedly forced into a white Toyota Corolla by armed men.
Pretorius studied at Nelson Mandela University and had her own practice in Pickering Street, where the abduction took place. The kidnapping occurred at around 8 a.m. on Thursday when Pretorius arrived for work.
Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela confirmed that Pretorius was found unharmed in the early hours of Friday, 24 March 2023. During her disappearance, a prayer meeting was held for Pretorius, showing the support and concern from the community.
One suspect was arrested shortly after Pretorius was taken. The investigation into the abduction is ongoing, and further details about the circumstances surrounding her kidnapping and release are yet to be revealed.
